After an initial maturation in barrels this whisky was finished for an additional period of maturation in ex-red wine casks. The wine finish has added subtle red berry notes (cherries and strawberries), but not excessively so.  The 'finish' has been extremely well managed, adding complexity in an elegant and subtle way.
