Under the guidance of Head Distiller Hugh Lumsden, Prohibition source only the finest quality botanicals to create a unique range of hand-crafted gins. With flavour profiles featuring exotic combinations of traditional ingredients from across the globe, our gins are distilled with locally sourced, native Australian botanicals.
It all began in 2015 when two mates from Adelaide hatched a crazy plan to start a gin distillery. One had a history in the food & beverage industry, the other – a graphic designer – passionate about creating brands. From humble beginnings in an inner-suburbs back yard garage to becoming an Adelaide institution, the Prohibition brand soon became a success.
Prohibition opened the doors to their city Distillery in 2017, featuring a beautiful 900L Copper Pot Still, ‘Mary’. A few years later the venue expanded with the opening of Bootleg Coffee Co and Next Door cocktail bar. The commitment to ultra-premium craft gins starts at Gilbert Street and extends into every venue and bottle shop representing our spirits – across Australia, and around the world. With awards from San Francisco to Singapore and across Australia, our globally awarded spirits are truly world class.
