THE STORY
“Sourced from our own vineyards, “G” is for Graymoor in the Coonawarra and “W” for
Wickham Park in McLaren Vale. The growing conditions of each site affords us the unique
opportunity of being able to blend wines of what each region has to offer.” - Geoff Merrill
VINTAGE INFORMATION
Mild weather played an important role for the region. Rainfall was lower than average
and with dry conditions from early August meant supplementary irrigation was vital.
With only a few sporadic hot days, the weather allowed natural acids with low pH
levels to develop. Yields had fallen just below average, however this varied depending
on variety. Overall 2015 was a successful vintage.
WINEMAKERS NOTES
The colour is a dark brick red with blood red hues and good depth. The aroma shows
an initial burst of McLaren Vale dark chocolate followed up with dark plum, wild
berries and herbaceous tobacco leaf. With time in the glass, savoury meats and
earthy notes increase, adding to its growing complexity. The palate is full of ripe red
berry fruits, herbs and spices and dark roasted coffee flavours. Fine tannins and a
solid line of acidity provides ample support for a long future. Drink now, or keep for
three to five years and be rewarded.
FOOD PAIRING
Enjoy with slow cooked lamb shanks, medium rare eye fillet, a thick Angus beef
burger, BBQed Swiss brown mushroom and finish with some hard cheeses.
