Tasting note

Chateau Mont-Redon sits on the northwest plateau of Chateauneuf-du-Pape and has been owned by the Abeille and Fabre families since 1923, with Pierre Fabre now making the wines. Beyond Chateauneuf the estate farms vineyards in Lirac and the Cotes du Rhone. This is the estate's Reserve Cotes du Rhone Rouge. For the 2024 the fruit comes from two sites: stony, pebbly ground near Roquemaure on the right bank of the Rhone, close to Tavel, and limestone soils near the northwestern edge of the Chateauneuf appellation. The grapes are fully destemmed and given around 15 days on skins, then the wine matures in vats in the estate's underground cellars for 8 to 10 months. Expect crunchy black fruit, red fruit notes, silky but bold tannins and a gently spicy finish. Made to enjoy young, with grilled red meat, terrines or cured ham.
