Tasting note

Minty, spicy and unmistakably alpine, this génépi from Distilleries et Domaines de Provence is made from génépi, a small yellow-flowered mountain plant of the sagebrush family that grows high in the Alps. It is bottled at 40% in a 500ml bottle.

Appearance. Green with yellow-brown tints, coloured with chlorophyll. Like other génépis it can take on golden to brown hues over time.

Nose. Powerful and fresh, with the menthol and spice of flowering génépi, plus floral and herbal notes.

Palate. Aromatic, minty and spicy, with a long finish.

Serving. The distillery recommends it chilled at the end of a meal. It is also used in cocktails, and poured over pear sorbet it makes a simple dessert. Lime, pear, mint, juniper and rosemary are its best flavour partners. Once opened, keep the bottle upright, somewhere cool and out of strong light, and enjoy it within a year. New Zealand orders travel by tracked international post. The cost is calculated at checkout. The free delivery threshold offered in Australia does not apply to New Zealand orders.
