Tasting note
Domaine Tariquet bottles this Bas-Armagnac XO in its Chance decanter. The family estate sits at Eauze in Gascony, and everything in the bottle was grown, harvested and bottled there: a blend of eaux-de-vie from 60% Ugni Blanc and 40% Baco, with an average age of 15 years.
Nose. Amber in the glass. Dried fruit and quince paste come first, with dried flowers behind them, and a hint of coconut appears once it has had some air.
Palate. A fleshy, honeyed start, then fruit and oak together, opening to prune, almond and rancio. The finish is long and lightly toasted, with a faint note of leather.
Serving. Tariquet suggests room temperature, after a meal or late in the afternoon, and recommends it with chocolate, vanilla or caramel desserts. The colour is entirely natural and comes only from time in barrel. Browse more bottles in our Armagnac collection.
