Tasting note
Dumangin Batch 033 is a cask strength single malt Scotch whisky finished in Ratafia Champenois barrels by the champagne house J. Dumangin Fils.
The Dumangin family have made grower champagne at Chigny-les-Roses since the 19th century, and Gilles Dumangin, the fifth generation, runs a parallel programme of numbered whisky releases. He buys casks from distilleries across Scotland, Ireland, Japan, Taiwan, India and the United States and finishes them in barrels that held ratafia, the fortified grape must of Champagne, which is a sweeter and more vinous cask than the sherry and bourbon wood most finishing uses. Bottled at 56.1% ABV.
