Tasting note
Lake Breeze Section 54 Shiraz is the flagship red of the Follett family's Langhorne Creek estate in South Australia.
The Folletts have farmed this land since the 1850s and grew grapes for other producers for more than 130 years before founding the winery in 1987. Section 54 is named for the land parcel it comes from and is the wine the estate is best known for. Langhorne Creek sits near Lake Alexandrina, and the cooling influence off the water lengthens ripening, which is why the district's shiraz tends towards soft, generous fruit rather than the heat and grip of hotter regions.
Serve at cool room temperature with red meat, and give it a decant if it is young.
