Created in 1906 in Hendaye, by the pharmacist and botanist Joseph Grattau, IZARRA is the emblematic liqueur of the Basque Country. The distillate, composed of plants and spices and a double maceration of prunes and walnut husk, is associated after passage in a copper still with Armagnac to obtain a result faithful to the original recipe.
Tasting Notes:
Nose: Fresh vegetal, mentholated and camphorated notes with a pinch of spices.
Palate: Beautiful amplitude and harmony between the flavours. Nice balance between the freshness and the intensity of the plants.
To be enjoyed neat, on ice or in cocktails.
