Tasting note
Delord 1970 is a vintage Bas Armagnac from the 1970 harvest, made by the Delord family at Lannepax in the heart of Gascony.
The house was founded in 1893 by Prosper Delord and has been run by the family ever since. Armagnac uses a continuous column still and distils to a lower strength than Cognac, which keeps more grape character in the spirit and makes long ageing essential rather than optional. Bas Armagnac, the western district on sandy soils, is the most sought-after of the three. This is a single-year bottling from a single harvest, drawn from cask at 40% ABV.
Serve neat at room temperature after dinner. A birth-year bottle for anyone born in 1970.
