Tasting note
Green walnut is a bitter, tannic flavour, and this is what it tastes like when the fruit is caught early and softened with spice. The walnuts are picked while still green, crushed and macerated in wine, and cinnamon, clove, pepper and nutmeg are macerated separately and added fifteen days before bottling, so the finish is warm rather than purely bitter.
At 15 per cent it drinks like a fortified wine, not a spirit. The standard serve is simple: three or four centimetres over ice with a strip of orange peel, half an hour before dinner. Tonic water at one to two lengthens it without killing the bitterness.
It is also useful in the kitchen. Pour it over vanilla ice cream, stir it into a chocolate dessert, or splash it into a pan sauce for duck or pork. Blue cheese and a hard sheep's milk cheese are the pairings that work best. 750ml at 15 per cent, made at Forcalquier in France.

Prices are shown in New Zealand dollars. Orders may attract New Zealand customs duty, GST and clearance fees on arrival. Those costs are set by New Zealand Customs, are payable by the recipient, and are not collected by Liquor Wine Cave.
Once your order is confirmed you will receive a shipping notification with a tracking reference. Larger or mixed orders sometimes travel as more than one parcel, and you will get tracking for each.
Alcohol can only be delivered to a person aged 18 or over. The courier may ask for photo ID and will not leave your order unattended. We do not offer authority to leave on alcohol orders.
We do not deliver to PO boxes or parcel lockers.
