Tasting note
Domaine de Joÿ is an estate at Panjas in the Bas Armagnac, and this VSOP is its five year old expression, made from Bacco and Ugni Blanc grapes.
How the estate makes it. The wine is distilled on the property very soon after fermentation, in a single heating. Straight off the still, the young spirit goes into new oak: Gascon casks for character and Limousin casks for suppleness and elegance. Once it has taken up tannin quickly, it moves into older casks to finish developing and to find a balance between wood and fruit, with regular aeration along the way.
Tasting. Amber with golden glints. Warmed in the glass, the nose is frank, with light, medium-toast wood that stays discreet and blond. The palate is fresh and shows its youth, yet it is already well balanced.
The 500ml bottle is a good size for getting to know the style. Compare it with other estates in our Armagnac collection.
