Tasting note
Aged cachaca is a sipping spirit, and this is the version that makes the case. Ten years in wood: eight in oak, then two in balsam, a Brazilian hardwood. The balsam is what you notice, a sweet resinous note over the top of the oak that reads a little like sandalwood.
The colour is dark amber. The palate is round and wood driven, with fruit underneath and none of the raw grassy edge that young cachaca has. If you have only met cachaca in a caipirinha, this is the other half of the category, and it drinks much closer to an aged Brazilian rum than to a mixing spirit.
Serve it neat at room temperature, or over one large cube with the green part of a lime peel twisted over the glass. Do not put it in a caipirinha. 40 per cent, 700ml, from Nova Uniao in Minas Gerais. The younger bottlings on our Cachaca shelf are the mixing end of the same producer.

Prices are shown in New Zealand dollars. Orders may attract New Zealand customs duty, GST and clearance fees on arrival. Those costs are set by New Zealand Customs, are payable by the recipient, and are not collected by Liquor Wine Cave.
Once your order is confirmed you will receive a shipping notification with a tracking reference. Larger or mixed orders sometimes travel as more than one parcel, and you will get tracking for each.
Alcohol can only be delivered to a person aged 18 or over. The courier may ask for photo ID and will not leave your order unattended. We do not offer authority to leave on alcohol orders.
We do not deliver to PO boxes or parcel lockers.
