Tasting note

Pouilly-Loche is one of the smallest appellations of the Maconnais, sitting beside Pouilly-Fuisse in southern Burgundy, and Le Bourg is the Couturier family's oldest planting there. The vines are around 80 years old, some older still, rooted in clay and limestone. Their short ripening cycle gives small berries of high quality year after year, and the domaine considers this one of its standout wines. Marcel Couturier began estate bottling at Fuisse in 2005 after generations of selling grapes to the cooperative, and today works with his children Cladie and Auxence; the vineyards are farmed organically and the whites ferment with native yeasts in Burgundian barrels. Expect a bright golden wine with lemon and passion fruit aromas and floral nuances, concentrated and structured enough to reward a few years in the cellar. Serve with lobster, scallops or veal in a cream sauce.
