Tasting note
Sweet woodruff is aspérule odorante in French, sometimes called reine des bois, queen of the woods. Distillerie Metté in Ribeauvillé turns its flowers into this clear spirit at 45%.
Making it. The flowers are gathered in May and macerated, then given a single distillation in a copper still. The spirit is not chill filtered, and it rests in stainless steel rather than wood.
Tasting. Clear and bright in the glass. The nose is fresh and heady: cut grass, straw and cereal. The palate is elegant, with rooty notes of gentian and Jerusalem artichoke, and the finish lingers on dry hay. Delicate but complex, it rewards anyone who enjoys botanical spirits.
Serving. Metté suggests about 13°C, in a tulip glass. More distillates from the same tradition are in our eau de vie collection.

New Zealand orders travel by tracked international post. The cost is calculated at checkout. The free delivery threshold offered in Australia does not apply to New Zealand orders.
Prices are shown in New Zealand dollars. Orders may attract New Zealand customs duty, GST and clearance fees on arrival. Those costs are set by New Zealand Customs, are payable by the recipient, and are not collected by Liquor Wine Cave.
Once your order is confirmed you will receive a shipping notification with a tracking reference. Larger or mixed orders sometimes travel as more than one parcel, and you will get tracking for each.
Alcohol can only be delivered to a person aged 18 or over. The courier may ask for photo ID and will not leave your order unattended. We do not offer authority to leave on alcohol orders.
