Tasting note

Sohm & Kracher began in 2009 as a partnership between the sommelier Aldo Sohm and the winemaker Gerhard Kracher, who shared a love of Gruner Veltliner and of the underrated Weinviertel, the large wine region north of Vienna running up to the Czech border. Lion is their Gruner Veltliner from southeast facing parcels in the Pulkau valley, on loam, gravel and limestone. The grapes are whole bunch pressed and fermented with wild yeasts in temperature controlled stainless steel, then the wine rests on fine lees before bottling. Expect fresh pear and white pepper on the nose with savoury, stony notes, then a light to medium bodied, linear palate that is crisp, dry and grippy, finishing long and saline. A versatile white for schnitzel, salads, sushi or green vegetables. Serve well chilled.

New Zealand orders travel by tracked international post. The cost is calculated at checkout. The free delivery threshold offered in Australia does not apply to New Zealand orders.
