Tasting note
The finish is the whole story here. The casks held Martinique rum first, then IPA in France, and only then this Japanese blend, so three things arrive at once: hop bitterness from the beer, a honeyed note carried over from the rum, and a baked apple sweetness that comes off the wood.
It reads fresh on the nose, white fruit and citrus over cereal. The palate is fuller than that suggests, hops and spice and something like cornflakes, and it closes mellow on honey and mild spice rather than on bitterness.
Drink it neat first so the hop note registers, then try it long: one part whisky to three parts soda in a tall glass with plenty of ice. It is a whisky that works beside food rather than after it, and a plate of salty things, aged cheddar, jamon or roasted almonds, is a better match than dessert. 40 per cent, 700ml, made at Hatsukaichi in Hiroshima. Once your order is confirmed you will receive a shipping notification with a tracking reference. Larger or mixed orders sometimes travel as more than one parcel, and you will get tracking for each.
Alcohol can only be delivered to a person aged 18 or over. The courier may ask for photo ID and will not leave your order unattended. We do not offer authority to leave on alcohol orders.
