Blair Athol 12 Year Old Cadillac Cask Scotch Whisky by The Cooper's Choice
The Cooper's Choice range of single cask whiskies from Scotland's finest distilleries are releases from the Family owned Independent Bottlers; The Vintage Malt Whisky Company. The range is a homage to the passion and skill of the Coopers, the craftsmen, who build the barrels for maturation of Scotch Whisky. The range focuses on the impact of maturation in oak, and includes several obscure and rare wood finishes.
The Highland Blair Athol distillery is known for heightened nutty characters in it's malts, which tends to work fantastically with rich style cask maturation, such as with this single cask release from Cooper's Choice! This 12 year old spent much of its life maturing in a single American oak cask before a finish in a single ex-Cadillac Wine cask.
Cadillac wine is the lesser known sister to Sauternes, being a small appellation within Bordeaux producing sweet, botrytised white wines.
This Blair Athol 12 year old scotch whisky is bright with sweet honey and caramel alongside mouthcoating dried fruits, honey and kitchen spices. Sweet and syrupy.
The single cask (#307293) produced only 306 bottles, with the Australian allocation being 24 bottles.
