Tasting note
Sakurao Single Malt is made at the Sakurao distillery in Hatsukaichi, which sits between the Seto Inland Sea and the Chugoku Mountains. Warm sea air and cold mountain wind keep a wide temperature swing in the warehouse all year, which the distillery says speeds up maturation.
This single malt spends more than three years in four types of cask: bourbon, new American oak and sherry casks, followed by several months in Mizunara. It is bottled at 43% without added colour or chill filtration.
Tasting. Dark amber. Raisin, orange and peach on the nose; sweet vanilla with gentle bitterness and sourness on the palate; a long, deep, sweet finish with smoke and barrel character. Try it neat, then with a splash of water. More from Japan in our Japanese whisky collection.

New Zealand orders travel by tracked international post. The cost is calculated at checkout. The free delivery threshold offered in Australia does not apply to New Zealand orders.
Prices are shown in New Zealand dollars. Orders may attract New Zealand customs duty, GST and clearance fees on arrival. Those costs are set by New Zealand Customs, are payable by the recipient, and are not collected by Liquor Wine Cave.
Once your order is confirmed you will receive a shipping notification with a tracking reference. Larger or mixed orders sometimes travel as more than one parcel, and you will get tracking for each.
Alcohol can only be delivered to a person aged 18 or over. The courier may ask for photo ID and will not leave your order unattended. We do not offer authority to leave on alcohol orders.
We do not deliver to PO boxes or parcel lockers.
