Tasting note
Calvados Pays d'Auge 2004, from double distillation in copper pot stills. Aged in old calvados barrels and old Foursquare rum barrels.
The nose opens with notes of ripe apples and honey, before evolving into scents of cinnamon, brown sugar, and toasted wood in a deliciously pastry-like universe enriched by notes of brioche and baba. On the palate, the attack is straightforward, with a fine structure supported by toasted wood. Very rich, the palate also offers a pastry-like balance of sweet baked apple, spice, and dried fruit (almonds, raisins). A note of candied orange completes the gourmet aromatic palette of these calvados. The smooth finish evokes apple pie, strudel, and brown sugar, reminiscent of the finesse of Foursquare rums.
Nose: The nose opens with notes of ripe apples and honey, before evolving towards notes of cinnamon, brown sugar, and toasted wood in a deliciously pastry-like universe.
Palate: The attack is frank, carried by notes of toasted wood. Very rich, the palate offers a pastry-like balance of sweet baked apple, spice, and dried fruit. A note of candied orange completes the aromatic palette.
Overall: Sweet, with notes of apple pie, strudel, and brown sugar that recall the finesse of Foursquare rums.
