Tasting note

The first Mac-Talla to use virgin oak. Mac-Talla is the Islay single malt of the Morrison family, former owners of Bowmore, Auchentoshan and Glen Garioch, and its name means echo in Scottish Gaelic. For this 2025 Limited Edition the Islay spirit was matured in a combination of ex-bourbon barrels and level four char virgin American oak casks from Kelvin Cooperage in Kentucky, then finished in virgin oak before being vatted and bottled at Aberargie Distillery. The oak pushes the style richer and sweeter than the core range: deep oak spice, toffee apples and muscovado sugar on the nose, then smoked oak, warm baking spices, sticky toffee pudding and creamy butterscotch on the palate. Bottled at 53.8% with natural colour and no chill filtration.
