Tasting note
Christian Drouin distilled this Calvados Pays d'Auge in 1973, and the house describes it as kept to this day in oak casks that have held nothing but Calvados and cider. Those casks are regularly refreshed with cider. Press comments reproduced by Drouin refer to it as Coeur de Lion 1973.
Appellation. The rules of the Pays d'Auge appellation require a pot still, whereas most other Calvados is made in a column still.
How it tastes. A review from the Nouvel Economiste (1999), reproduced on Drouin's page, describes fine, light oak that stands back and lets the fruit speak: cooked apple with vanilla, a touch of pepper, then a smooth, silky palate that stays fresh despite its maturity. The writer Michael Jackson, in the Observer Magazine in 2002, found ripe fruit and apple blossom on the nose and palate, and a nutty, autumnal finish.

New Zealand orders travel by tracked international post. The cost is calculated at checkout. The free delivery threshold offered in Australia does not apply to New Zealand orders.
Prices are shown in New Zealand dollars. Orders may attract New Zealand customs duty, GST and clearance fees on arrival. Those costs are set by New Zealand Customs, are payable by the recipient, and are not collected by Liquor Wine Cave.
Once your order is confirmed you will receive a shipping notification with a tracking reference. Larger or mixed orders sometimes travel as more than one parcel, and you will get tracking for each.
Alcohol can only be delivered to a person aged 18 or over. The courier may ask for photo ID and will not leave your order unattended. We do not offer authority to leave on alcohol orders.
