The Cooper's Choice Benrinnes 11 year old Brandy Finish Scotch Whisky
The Cooper's Choice range of single cask whiskies from Scotland's finest distilleries are releases from the Family owned Independent Bottlers; The Vintage Malt Whisky Company. The range is a homage to the passion and skill of the Coopers, the craftsmen, who build the barrels for maturation of Scotch Whisky. The range focuses on the impact of maturation in oak, and includes several obscure and rare wood finishes.
This single cask bottling of Speyside single malt distilled at the Benrinnes distillery was initially matured in an American Oak cask before a finish in an ex-Brandy cask, adding a notes of orchard fruits and a grapey sweetness. The nutty and spicy Benrinnes malt character, alongside the rich fruity character from the wood has created a delightfully complex and balanced dram, with a fantasticly long finish.
Nose: Fragrant and fruity with pears and nutmeg
Palate: Good weight of spirit with savoury notes. Malted barley with caramelized pears, citrus fruits and light oak. A slight grapey sweetness developing.
Finish: Long lasting with the flavours of the palate being reinforced.
The single cask (#305114) produced only 324 bottles, with the Australian allocation being 24bottles.
