The Cooper's Choice Dailuaine 11 Year Old Port Finish Scotch Whisky
The Cooper's Choice range of single cask whiskies from Scotland's finest distilleries are releases from the Family owned Independent Bottlers; The Vintage Malt Whisky Company. The range is a homage to the passion and skill of the Coopers, the craftsmen, who build the barrels for maturation of Scotch Whisky. The range focuses on the impact of maturation in oak, and includes several obscure and rare wood finishes.
This single cask bottling of Speyside single malt distilled at the Linkwood distillery was initially matured in an American Oak cask before being finished in a single ex-Calvados (French apple brandy) wood cask, adding a plenty of apple fruit notes to the light and fruity Linkwood malt spirit. Given the apple notes synonymous with Linkwood, a finish in an ex-Calvados cask is seemingly a perfect match. Well, I think this absolutely proves the case!
Nose: Grassy notes with tropical fruits and baked apple skins
Palate: Rich and malty. Marzipan and almonds with more baked apple skins. Light oiliness
Finish:Â Drying slightly with citrus notes
