Tasting note
Gabriel Boudier, the liqueur house in Dijon, makes this dark cacao liqueur from roasted cocoa beans sourced mainly from West Africa. The roasted beans are infused so that just the most aromatic part is used and the fatty cocoa butter stays behind, for a flavour that is both toasted and bitter. Vanilla and caramel infusions complete it, and the sugar is dissolved in cold. 25% in a 500ml bottle.
Nose. A very strong cocoa note, much like dark chocolate.
Palate. Intense but smooth, driven by roasted cocoa bean and closing on cocoa powder.
Using it. That natural bitterness is why it earns its place in cocktails. It also works as an aperitif or after dinner, poured over ice cream, used in pastry, or turned into a coulis for a red fruit salad.

New Zealand orders travel by tracked international post. The cost is calculated at checkout. The free delivery threshold offered in Australia does not apply to New Zealand orders.
Prices are shown in New Zealand dollars. Orders may attract New Zealand customs duty, GST and clearance fees on arrival. Those costs are set by New Zealand Customs, are payable by the recipient, and are not collected by Liquor Wine Cave.
Once your order is confirmed you will receive a shipping notification with a tracking reference. Larger or mixed orders sometimes travel as more than one parcel, and you will get tracking for each.
Alcohol can only be delivered to a person aged 18 or over. The courier may ask for photo ID and will not leave your order unattended. We do not offer authority to leave on alcohol orders.
