Tasting note
This is Cornouaille cider in the 750ml bottle, from the Manoir du Kinkiz at Quimper, where grower Hervé Seznec makes cider from his own apples. Cornouaille is a protected appellation, so the land, the cider apple varieties and the method all follow strict rules, and a tasting committee judges each batch ahead of release. The numbered collar on the neck shows it passed.
Pour it and you get a golden orange cider with a fine, generous mousse. Fruit, flowers and a little spice come through on the nose. The palate opens softly, then fills out around a bittersweet centre and finishes fresh. It is made purely from fermented apple juice and sits at 5.5%.
Serve it cold with a meal, from salads to fish and shellfish, or as an aperitif. The producer also suggests it as a cocktail base. Browse more in our cider collection.
