Tasting note
Clase Azul calls Ultra its most time-intensive creation, crafted for true connoisseurs. It is an extra añejo tequila aged for five years: it begins in American whiskey casks, is then divided between amontillado, oloroso and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, and is finally brought back together as one.
The decanter is equally painstaking. On its sheer black ceramic surface, the house's most skilled artisans paint the signature feathered motif entirely from memory in platinum, silver and 24-karat gold. The platinum brushstrokes only become visible once the ceramic has been fired.
Appearance. Shades of brown with copper highlights, and a full body.
Aroma. Sherry, dried plum, raisin, ripe apricot and brown sugar, with clove, cinnamon, cacao and an intense note of oak.
Palate. Dried plum, cinnamon, cacao and clove with a touch of tobacco, then a long finish of dried plum and caramelised walnut.
At the table. Clase Azul matches it with aged goat's cheese, smoked brisket, figs and black cherries. The rest of the house's decanters are in our Clase Azul collection.
Delivery information
Most orders to New Zealand leave within 2 to 7 business days depending on the item. If anything is delayed we will tell you.
New Zealand orders travel by tracked international post. The cost is calculated at checkout. The free delivery threshold offered in Australia does not apply to New Zealand orders.
Prices are shown in New Zealand dollars. Orders may attract New Zealand customs duty, GST and clearance fees on arrival. Those costs are set by New Zealand Customs, are payable by the recipient, and are not collected by Liquor Wine Cave.
Once your order is confirmed you will receive a shipping notification with a tracking reference. Larger or mixed orders sometimes travel as more than one parcel, and you will get tracking for each.
Alcohol can only be delivered to a person aged 18 or over. The courier may ask for photo ID and will not leave your order unattended. We do not offer authority to leave on alcohol orders.
We do not deliver to PO boxes or parcel lockers.
