Tasting note

Distilled at Benriach on 30 September 2013 and bottled in October 2025, this 12-year-old single cask was finished in a cask that held Vin de Constance, the celebrated sweet wine of Constantia in South Africa, famously the wine Napoleon drank in exile on St Helena. Finn Thomson believes it may be the first whisky released using a cask from this wine. He chose Benriach for its estery, fruit-forward Speyside spirit, which takes well to unusual casks. The Vin de Constance finish adds apricot and peach, homemade marmalade, cinnamon and gentle spice, with layers that open up in the glass, while the spirit's elegant fruit stays at the core. Bottled at natural strength of 52.9%, without chill filtration or added colouring. Finn Thomson Whisky is an independent bottler launched in 2022 by Finn Thomson, whose family has been part of Scotch whisky for nine generations.
